Uncle Ivan's Birthday party

This past weekend we celebrated my little brother's birthday. As you can see, Logan was thrilled to be part of the festivities...:)

The night ended with a roasting of marshmallows by the fire. It was so fun watching the girls. Happy Birthday, Ivan! We love you.

New foods

It has now been almost 6 months since Logan moved in with us.

These past few weeks have been a lot of fun. First of all, Logan has two bottom teeth poking thru. And aside from the boring rice cereal, I've introduced a few colorful foods to his menu.

So far, he loves them all !

And a little bit of Elephant trunk, for dessert!

And all the drinking and eating is definitely sticking to his bones. I last weighed him a few weeks ago, on April 15th, I think, and he was 19.1 lbs

The 6 month check up with his Pediatrician will be coming up in a few weeks.

He is now too heavy for me to lift him IN his infant car seat and has almost outgrown it.

Maybe I should cut back on the food...

Some days he enjoys actually eating as well. But I think it's Mama who is having more fun with this eating business than Logan is.

Still his favorite thing to chew on is his Sophie. What do they put on this toy? It's like crack for babies!

Motherhood

Another shot of Logan on his 5 month birthday on his big-boy bed. He's looks like he doubled in size (to me) since the last time I took this shot at 3 months!

I recently watched a movie called "Motherhood." It's about a mom who is a writer and she enters a contest where she needs to submit an essay about what Motherhood means to her. The movie itself was pretty bad (sorry, Uma!) but I liked and identified with what her character wrote in the end... couldn't have written it better myself:)

What motherhood means to me:

Motherhood is about accepting the limitations of time and energy which stretch beyond you, even though sometimes it feels like they could consume you. Search for and hold on to your own true self. If you lose that, what kind of mother CAN you be?

Things are always changing, no matter how much you may want things to stay the same. You can take a picture of your kids every single day, and every single day, they’d just be getting older. That’s a fact; A heartbreaking fact, but still a fact.

So seize your days and dwell on them fully, look to your children because they know how to inhabit brief periods of time with extreme passion; And for nothing more, really, than the sake of those moments. They can help you remember that, if you only slow down and let them.
Feel fortunate, because chances are good, you actually might be.

Lunch with Gramma

My mom spent one very short day with us this week and we found ourselves having lunch outdoors at Q'ero Peruvian in Encinitas. It was a beautiful day and Logan enjoyed the outing. Even if he did sleep for half of it.

Lunch was delicious, thank you Mom for taking us and for everything you constantly do for us!
